About the course

This course is for experienced IV sedationists.

This course is for experienced IV sedationists. Single drug sedation has limitations. Discover how the synergy between Fentanyl and Midazolam can be used to create a more stable and better controlled sedation. Learn the appropriate protocols for two drug administration and monitoring. The completion of the on-line “Safe Sedation Training” course will also be a requirement.

About the presenters

Dr Rohit Bedi BDS, NZREX, PGDipHSc

Rohit has a special interest in providing care using advanced intravenous sedation techniques to help treat patients with extreme dental anxiety and complex needs. He is an active member of the New Zealand, UK and American societies for sedation. He believes Dental Sedation is a "team effort" and is involved in teaching sedation to other dentists and teams. Rohit travels both nationally and internationally to keep up to date with the latest developments in procedural sedation. He practices the full scope of General Dentistry under intravenous sedation.

Don Macalister B.D.S (Otago) F.D.S.R.C.S. (Eng) Oral Surgeon

Graduated Otago University Dental School. Military service with Royal New Zealand Navy. Training in Oral Surgery East Grinstead United Kingdom. Specialist Oral Surgeon in private practice Auckland New Zealand. Career long involvement with post graduate teaching of Intravenous sedation. New Zealand Dental Association Representative for ANZCA. Safe Sedation Project, developing competencies to be incorporated into training programs teaching the delivery of safe moderate procedural sedation. Presented on TCI sedation at combined IFDAS and ADSA and IFDAS and ASDA meetings in the USA and Australia. Speaker on TCI sedation at Harvard Medical School, Paediatric Sedation outside of the Operating Room Conference. Pioneered TCI procedural sedation in dentistry in New Zealand, and has been using TCI sedation in oral surgical practice for 20 years.
