Problem solving in general practice

General Dental Practice presents a multitude of challenges and interesting situations. This talk will focus on practical techniques and methods used to problem solve in clinical cases.


Laura completed her BDS (with Distinction) at Otago University in 2010. She gained her Fellowship in General Dentistry FRACDS(GDP) in 2016, gaining the top award – the Sutherland Prize. Laura was awarded the Outstanding Young Dentist of the Year Award by NZDA at the annual conference for the years 2017/2018.

Laura has been practicing Dentistry for ten years in the Wellington region and is currently working in private practice full time.

She is an active NZDA Member, she holds role of Hon. Secretary of the NZDA Wellington Branch. She is a Candidate Advisor for Primaries and Fellowship for the NZ Regional committee of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (RACDS). Laura is also a Mentor as part of the NZDA New Graduate Dentist Mentorship Programme.

Laura is incredibly passionate about sustainability and social responsibility and their place and role in Dentistry. She is also a proud supporter of One Percent Collective (founded by her partner Pat), that has to date raised over $1.7million by growing a collective of over 600 people who support the community with 1% of their income on a regular basis.
