NZDA Mo Amso

My top 10 lessons in 10 years of practice

Mo was the recipient of NZDA’s Outstanding Young Dentist Award in 2019. In this session, he reflects on his career practicing dentistry over a decade and the lessons learnt from it, both on a clinical and personal level. A light-hearted and honest reflection on the challenges facing young dentists and the role we all play in supporting them.

Mo Amso graduated with his BDS in 2009 from Otago University after having completed a BSc from the University of Auckland in 2006.

His career has spanned work in the public and private sectors, and he has spent much of his practicing life working for a non-profit Pacific health provider in Auckland providing oral health care for high-needs and low-income adults.

He is passionate about dentistry and oral health, governance and continuing education. He sits on the executive of the Auckland branch of the NZDA and represents Auckland on the NZDA board.

He is a member of many professional organizations and a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons. He is married to Sarah and together they live in West Auckland.
