NZDA24 Amanda Johnston

After completing BDS in Otago, Amanda lived and practiced in the UK for 5 years before returning to her hometown of Whang─ürei. Soon after returning to Northland, Amanda became involved in the Northland branch of NZDA, first as secretary, then president and later board representative. This gave her opportunities to develop further governance skills and to use her enthusiasm and passion for the organisation to help build and enhance membership services.

Amanda was elected to the NZDA Board Executive in 2013, was a founding member of the Young Dentists Action Group and the Governance Sponsor of the NZDA Wellness Programme.

In 2014 she was inducted as a Fellow of the International College of Dentists. She serves on the Board of Women Dentists Worldwide and is currently President of the NZDA.

Amanda is married to Richard, has 2 daughters and works as a general dentist in Kamo, in beautiful Te Tai Tokerau.
