Rosemary Kennedy
Rosemary Kennedy has worked for ACC based in Wellington at Corporate Office for the past 24 years to provide advice for dental and maxillofacial trauma. This has involved leading the development of guides for best practise, development of new forms, descriptors for Dentists’ Cost of Treatment Regulations, supporting dental treatment assessors and generally providing a wide range of dental information and knowledge across ACC. Rosemary also writes a column in the NZDA News and leads Webinars on ACC guidelines.
Prior to this role Rosemary was a dental therapist, and a Business Manager at Capital Coast for General Medicine which included internal medicine, renal, oncology and cardiology.

ACC Treatment Injury and the role of the specialist advisor
- Definition of Treatment Injury (as most dentists don’t understand it correctly ) ACC must have some good slides on this
- Clearer understanding of an underlying condition and the fact that ACC is not a third party available just to restore someone’s dentition that has suffered from neglect
- A quick summary of cases that come through and ACC can provide some data here
- One or two interesting cases to clarify some points of treatment injury e.g. chemotherapy and dental decay
- What dentists need to provide in these cases
- A call out to senior/experienced dentists who may be interested in the role of an external ACC advisor and what to expect e.g. time involved
