Professor Sunyoung Ma is a prosthodontist and academic at the University of Otago, New Zealand, where she served as Associate Dean (Postgraduate) until early this year. She is also the current President of the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Prosthodontists, Associate Editor of New Zealand Dental Journal and Member of International College of Prosthodontists Education and Research Committee.

Professor Ma is internationally recognised for her expertise in implant prosthodontics, digital dentistry, and advanced prosthodontic rehabilitation, especially with older patients. Her research, supported by over 65 peer-reviewed publications, bridges contemporary digital workflows with evidence-based prosthodontic rehabilitation strategies to enhance clinical outcomes.

She is deeply committed to professional education, contributing to postgraduate specialist training, continuing professional development programmes, and international study clubs, fostering the next generation of prosthodontic leaders.
