2020 NZDA Conference & Exhibition

I am delighted to announce that the NZDA 2020 Conference will take place at TSB Arena* in Wellington Monday 12 – Wednesday 14 October and am very much looking forward to hosting NZDA Members, their staff and the dental industry for this opportunity to reconnect in person with each other. This decision enables us to review, reinvent and deliver to members a New Zealand-focused, outstanding scientific programme, the NZDA Awards evening, class reunions and much more.

COVID-19 has taught us the security of our work, our profession and our businesses simply cannot be taken for granted. The very ability of us to practice dentistry has been challenged.

While dentistry has been rapidly adapting to the digital revolution at pace, COVID-19 has forced us to rethink our status quo. Today, you will struggle to find a dentist who still thinks Zoom is just a function on a camera, that all masks were created equal, that others cannot determine we cease working and that dentistry is well understood within New Zealand’s health system.

In this era NZDA is committed to our profession and navigating the post-COVID equilibrium. Conference 2020 in part is a step towards ushering in a new era in education, compliance, resilience and dental care.

More information on the conference programme, social events, the exhibition and award submission dates will be sent to all members late July and updates may be found on the conference page of the NZDA website.

Please join us in Wellington.

Yours sincerely,

Katie Ayers
New Zealand Dental Association

(*Previously we had planned for this event to be held in Christchurch at the new Convention Centre. However, the unprecedented COVID-19 events have delayed construction. We had also secured hotel and event location in central Auckland and this has now become unavailable due to Government quarantine requirements, hence our need to move this event to Wellington TSB and the Intercontinental Hotel (which is not involved in the Ministry of health’s quarantine scheme).
