Dr David Crum

David graduated from Otago in 1983, purchased a practice in 1987 in Auckland working in the private sector full time through to 2003. He completed a post graduate diploma in restorative dentistry in 1990. From 2001- 2003 he was President NZDA and from 2003 - 2022 practiced part-time and was NZDA’s Chief Executive.

He has extensive experience in managing complaints against dentists, providing advice and support to colleagues in need. From 1997 onward he has also worked for Dental Protection Ltd, becoming manager for their NZ cases in 2003. A role he still holds today. He is a Trustee of the Association’s Benevolent Fund and the current Global Treasurer of the International College of Dentists.

David an Honorary Life member of the NZDA, and of both its Auckland and Canterbury Branches. He has been awarded a number of honorary international dental fellowships. In 2019 Royal NZ New Year’s Honours, he was awarded Officer of the NZ Order of Merit for services to dentistry.
