Suzanne is a Research Fellow at the Liggins Institute in the transdisciplinary knowledge translation research group LENScience (Liggins Education Network for Science). She specialises in health science literacy within the school sector, focusing on the intersection of local contexts and global health challenges. Her research highlights the value of locally developed, culturally relevant learning in driving meaningful conceptual and behaviour change. She collaborates with schools in New Zealand and the Pacific. Suzanne has led Health and Physical Education curriculum development in Tokelau. In the Cook Islands, she contributes to the Pacific Science for Health Literacy Project. She uses approaches such as Photovoice to help students explore complex structural, environmental, and social factors that influence our food choices. Suzanne’s work in the Cure Kids OPUSS project examined the integration of systems science in nutrition. She has also contributed to wellbeing-focused research, including the COVID-19 Youth Voices Matter survey
